Lupus in 60 sec:
We all have a lot on our mind at the end of each day. But when you have a chronic illness like lupus, the disease can bring pain, frustration, and disapppontment that feels downright overwhelming. Here's one of my favorite meditation strategies from my book, "Despite Lupus":
"Dump the Day":
1) At the end of the day, find a spot where you can sit comfortably and without disruption.
2) Sit with your eyes closed, letting the thoughts of the day run through your head. The most troublesome events may surface first, but allow time for all of the events from the past 12-24 hours come to mind.
3) Slowly, let those thoughts, troubles, and anxieties trickle away, conciously and visually "dumping" them from your mind.
4) Continue until all worries of the day have been "dumped", even if just temporarily, so your mind, body, and spirit can get the relief they need.
